Anyone interested in learning more about Nova Scotia’s woodland owner community and woodlot management is encouraged to attend the Federation of Nova Scotia Woodland Owners annual general meeting being held in Truro.
The meeting is set for Saturday, June 6 at the Holiday Inn on west Prince Street. The registration desk and coffee will open at 9:00 am with the meeting to commence at 9:30.
The registration fee is $20.00 and includes lunch, nutritional breaks and a chance to win some door prizes.
Peter deMarsh, President of the Canadian Federation of Woodland Owners and Chair of the International Family Forestry Alliance will be speaking on Woodlot Owner Organizations and “making change happen”.
Calvin Archibald of Next Generation Forest Management will be giving a presentation on Northern Pulp from the perspective of a forestry contractor and woodlot owner.
Andrew West from H.C. Haynes Ltd. will provide insight on the current and future state of wood markets and in Nova Scotia.
As well, Forester Tom Berry will be giving an annual update on the Federations’ highly successful Woodlot Certification Program promoting responsible forestry and providing landowners an opportunity to have their woodlots FSC or PEFC certified to internationally recognized standards of forest management.
