Brush fires, campfires banned or restricted in all of Nova Scotia

May 26 2015

Published on May 25, 2015

HALIFAX - Have a fire planned for this afternoon? Just don't do it.

Because of a high wildfire risk, fires are banned  as of 2 p.m. May 25 in Colchester, Cumberland, Hants, Kings,  Halifax, Lunenburg and Pictou counties.

In rest of the province, brush and campfires  are restricted to between 7 p.m. and 8 a.m.

The "burn safe" map will be updated next at 2 p.m. May 26.

According to Nova Scotia's Department of Natural Resources' fire weather index map, parts of the province are at high to extreme risk of forest fire.

For the period between March 15 and Oct. 15, DNR maintains a province-wide burning restrictions map.  The colour-coded map is updated daily, and the daily restrictions set at 2 p.m. each day, to show where burning in permitted in the province.
